There is a stubborn myth that Pilates is a women's workout. It is worth correcting, because it keeps a lot of men from one of the most effective things they could do for their bodies.
Pilates was created by a man, for men. Joseph Pilates built the method in the early 20th century, first to rehabilitate and condition soldiers, and it was later adopted by boxers, dancers, and athletes for its core strength, control, and balance. None of that is soft.
Real, functional strength. A full-body system that trains the deep stabilizing muscles of the core along with the larger muscle groups. Strength you can use: lifting, carrying, sport, daily life. Pro athletes across football, basketball, and MMA use it for exactly this reason.
Mobility most men are missing. Flexibility is the first thing skipped in a typical routine, and the first thing to cause problems. Pilates lengthens tight muscles, improves range of motion, reduces injury risk, and makes everything else you do move better.
A strong core and a back that holds up. Built around core stability and alignment. For men who sit all day or train hard, that means less lower-back pain, better posture, and more control.
Balanced strength, not imbalances. Most workouts hammer the same muscles and create imbalances that lead to injury. Pilates trains the body evenly, which keeps you durable.
Mind and stress. The focus on breath and precise movement is a genuine mental reset. Most men who stick with it find it lowers stress as much as it builds the body.

How we work
At West Hollywood Pilates, men train one-on-one, never in a group. Sessions blend classical Pilates with functional movement, built entirely around your body, your history, and your goals. Whether you want to fix your back, move better in your sport, or simply get stronger, this is built for that.
