What Is the Average Cost of a Pilates Class in Los Angeles?
The average cost of a Pilates class in Los Angeles is about $37 for a single group reformer class. Private sessions cover a much wider range. A 2026 survey of studio menus put the citywide median at $120, and boutique studios near us and in Beverly Hills publish private rates from about $135 to $270 a session.
That spread is the interesting part. “A Pilates class” can mean an hour in a room of twelve reformers, or an hour with a teacher and a studio that belongs to you alone. Below are the real numbers, and what you get for ours.
The average cost of a Pilates class in Los Angeles
The broadest recent data comes from a 2026 Pilates pricing index by Junocal, which compared the standard published prices of US studios in August 2026, leaving out intro offers and ClassPass rates.
For Los Angeles, the medians were:
- Group reformer class, single drop-in: $36.50
- 10-class pack: $300, which works out to $30 a class
- Private session: $120
That private figure is a citywide middle, and it mixes studios of every kind. Closer to us the numbers climb. When we checked published menus in October 2026, one nearby boutique studio listed a single private session at $150, and a Beverly Hills studio listed private sessions from $135 to $270.
Why one Pilates session costs $25 and another costs $250
The format moves the price more than anything else.
Mat classes need only floor space and a teacher, so they are the least expensive. Mat asks your body to create its own support, which is why we consider it the hardest form of the method.
Group reformer classes cost more because each person needs a machine, and reformers are expensive to buy and maintain. The teacher’s hour is shared by the whole room, which keeps the per-person price down.
Private sessions cost the most because a teacher’s whole hour belongs to one person. Within private sessions, the price then follows the teacher’s training, the equipment, the length of the session and the space you are in. Our honest look at private and group Pilates compares the two formats in more depth.
Not every private session is private
In some studios a “private” means your own teacher on a shared floor. A group class may be running a few feet away, or two or three other private sessions may be happening around you, each with its own teacher and its own conversation.
At West Hollywood Pilates there is one session at a time. When you are here, the whole studio is yours. Nobody else is warming up in the corner, and no other cueing competes for your attention. It changes how deeply you can listen to your own body, and it is a large part of what you are paying for.
What $150 buys at West Hollywood Pilates
The room. The studio sits behind large windows with white sheer curtains, with palm trees and green outside. Light comes in warm across golden hardwood floors under a honey-toned wood ceiling with exposed beams. A framed portrait of Joseph Pilates hangs on the wall. It is a quiet, peaceful room that invites you to slow down before the session even begins.
The apparatus. We teach on the full classical Contrology line from Balanced Body: the Cadillac, reformers, the Wunda Chair, the ladder barrel, the spine correctors and the wall ladder. Some studios teach on reformers alone. Here the core of the apparatus Joseph Pilates designed is in the room, so the work can go wherever your body needs it.
The teaching. Sessions are taught by Yonatan Elkayam, who trained under Carrie Samper. Carrie was certified by Romana Kryzanowska, who learned the method directly from Joseph Pilates. It is classical Pilates taught close to its source, adjusted to the body in front of us.
The hour itself. Every session opens with breathwork and a check-in on how your body arrived that day. It closes with a short meditation.

What Pilates costs per month
Most people come more than once a week, and the monthly number is the one to plan around. Two sessions a week works out to about eight or nine a month.
At the Los Angeles medians, that many group reformer classes from 10-packs comes to roughly $240 to $270 a month. Private sessions at our 12-pack rate of $140 come to roughly $1,120 to $1,260.
That is a real difference, and it buys a different hour: a teacher watching only you, in a studio no one else is using. Many people start once a week, which is about $560 to $600 a month on a 12-pack, and some keep a group class alongside it. We wrote about combining private and group Pilates for anyone weighing that mix, and the $65 intro below is the simplest way to feel the difference first.
